Junior Church

Junior Church takes place during the 10am service on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sunday of each month, except during August, on Christmas Day and on the Sunday after Christmas.  On the 2nd Sunday of the month, families are encouraged to come to our Thirty Minute Church service at 11.30am, which is geared for all age groups.

Junior Church provides a fun environment in which to learn about the Christian faith through Bible stories, songs, prayer, crafts, drama, food, puzzles, discussion and much, much more!

It is aimed at children aged 4 - 11 years old.  Parents and other accompanying adults remain in church for the 10am service whilst their children attend Junior Church.

Children aged 3 years old are also welcome to attend Junior Church if they are accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.

All our helpers have DBS clearance and we provide a safe, and nurturing atmosphere.

Children of visiting families are very welcome to attend Junior Church.

Your Questions Answered

When will my child go out to Junior Church?

After the first hymn has been announced, Junior Church leaders and the children will go out to the hall.

The children will return to church in time to take Communion or receive a Blessing with the rest of their family.  They should then stay with their family until the end of the service.

Who leads Junior Church?

The leaders and helpers at Junior Church are volunteers from the St. Benedict's congregation.  They work on a rota system and there are usually two leaders and two helpers each week.  All leaders are over 18 years old, have been DBS checked and are aware of the Church Child Protection Policy.

Can I accompany my child on their first day @ Junior Church?

You are very welcome to accompany your child on their first visit(s) to Junior Church to help them settle in.

Please let us know if your child has any food allergies, as some of our activities involve the making and eating of food linked to our Bible stories.

My child is too young for Junior Church, what is available for them?

We provide a play area on the right-hand side of church at the back for children aged 3 years old and under and their parents / accompanying adults.  There are plenty of books and toys to help you keep your child amused and occupied during our 10am service.

We very much welcome children at our 10am service and accordingly expect some noise.  If you feel uncomfortable about the amount of noise they are making, please feel free to take them out through the door (with the green curtain) at the front right-hand side of church and return when you are ready.

How can I find out more about Junior Church?
